Dylan Hazen is a rising star in the electronic music scene, renowned for his innovative approach to live performance and record production.
Originating from Long Island, New York, Dylan’s early years were a balancing act of school, sports and performances. As a lead guitarist in several local rock bands, he quickly uncovered his passion for entertainment and devoted his weekends busking, playing at small venues and bars. Throughout his childhood he picked up other instruments alongside guitar, like piano, drums and started writing original music. He developed his skills both musically and creatively, which led to opportunities out of state and eventually touring internationally.
Hazen purchased his first production software before starting middle school, he originally used the DAW to engineer himself, tracking demos with his guitar at home. It wasn’t long before he learned about MIDI and basic sound design. He began creating with virtual instruments then shortly after started selling trap beats from his home studio in New York. As demand for his work grew, he quickly established himself as a sought-after young producer, landing placements for prominent organizations like the NFL and NBA, as well as numerous independent artists and influencers.
During the covid lockdown, while shuffling between high school classes, Dylan immersed himself in record production. Since sports practices and rehearsals were all cancelled, This period of time ignited a deep passion a new found interest in electronic music and DJaying, which later reshaped his career trajectory. His commitment to honing his craft led him to enroll at Long Island High School for the Arts at age 16 as a Digital Music Major, alongside his studies at Jericho High School, to gain formal industry experience and mentorship before college. He graduated from both high schools, receiving the RGM Scholarship and recognized as the president of The TRI-M National Music Honor Society in 2021.
In fall of 2021 Dylan moved to Boston, MA and began studying undergrad at Berklee College of Music. While in Boston, Hazen spent countless hours in the studio, collaborating with vocalists and other producers, creating original music. He quickly became involved in the underground house show scene, working as a djay with a wide range of artists, and shortly after found himself building playback rigs and performance templates using Ableton Live. Now 21 years old, Dylan graduated with a cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production & Engineering, specializing in Commercial Record Production as an Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) principle. Referred as a well versed record producer, DJ, songwriter and music innovator, Hazen’s academic background complements his practical experience.
Standing at the forefront of a new era in entertainment and live performance, Hazen skillfully employs an array of cutting-edge technology, using MIDI faders, grid controllers, buttons, sequencers, and knobs, to create unforgettable experiences on stage in real-time. Dylan’s dedication to live performance, paired with a distinct musical vision, has earned him recognition on major stages, as he continues to redefine what it means to be a modern electronic artist.
In 2024, Dylan founded The Neon Project, an electronic-pop project that blends his talent and vision with other artists, creating catchy sound palettes and melodies. The project’s debut single, “Home,” was released with vocalist Grable Howie in July 2024, and have since been actively releasing on all streaming services. Beyond The Neon Project, Dylan has collaborated with various artists, creating remixes, designing live shows and cowriting. Hazen’s talent and dedication have since propelled him onto major stages, clubs and festivals, most recently including New York City’s Governors Ball in June of 2024.
